Business Studies Level 1 BTEC Certifi cate in Retail
Knowledge (BUS10192) The course will appeal to you if you are interested in developing an understanding of how businesses work and how they control their money. This course also offers ESOL support. Entry requirements: College interview. Possible next steps: Level 2 BTEC in Diploma Business. Length of course (weeks): 36
Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Business
(BUS10142) This is a practical, work-related course which includes learning about key issues faced by retailers in the modern world. Entry requirements: Successful completion of Level 1 BTEC Certifi cate in Retail Knowledge or 4 GCSEs at grade D–G. Possible next steps: Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Business. Length of course (weeks): 36
Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Business
(BUS30169) This is for people who want to develop a thorough grounding in the computing business sectors. The vast majority of learners use the award as a stepping stone to progress to the National Certifi cate in e-business. It is equivalent to 2 A Levels. Entry requirements: Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Business or 4 GCSEs at grades A–C. Possible next steps: National Certifi cate in e-business, HNC/D, university or employment. Length of course (weeks): 36
Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in
Business (BUS10537) This intensive two-year course is the equivalent of three A Levels. It’s suitable for people who want to get a thorough grounding in the area of Business. The qualifi cation can also be used to progress to Degree courses. Entry requirements: A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above. Possible next steps: University or employment. Length of course (weeks): 36
Higher National Certifi cate / Diploma (HNC/D) in Business and Finance
(HNC: BUS64312, HND: BUS62274) A business qualifi cation can set you up for life. Taking this course will prepare you with essential skills for work and higher level study. There’s a great range of theoretical and practical subjects in this course. Along with Business ethics and aspects of contracts, it gives you a thorough grounding in the subject. You’ll study managing resources, including staff; marketing, including internet marketing; accounting, and business strategy and decision making. You’ll also carry out a research project and you could focus on setting up your own business with the small business enterprise module or study the wider European business fi eld. Entry requirements: Full level 3 or interview. Possible next steps: University or Employment. Length of course (weeks): 36 for HNC and another 36 for HND.
