s we climbed the impressive

staircase we soon found ourselves outside the Prayer room and once we had deposited our shoes with the many attendants we entered the impressive room. Once again there were many interesting features, especially in the windows, that became very obvious once they were pointed out to us. From here we proceed to the beautiful roof garden where one could glimpse the roof tops of the neighbouring Museums and once again we were reminded of how well this modern building blends in so well with the huge Victorian buildings.

uring the entire visit we were accompa- nied by Almoor Sanji who was an

absolute wealth of information and a large number of volunteers who were on hand to look after us. As the weather was so fine on the roof top it was the perfect opportunity for me to present Almoor with our pennant and thank him and all the staff for their hospitality. It was also perfect for a photo opportunity. (Throughout the trip we were accompanied by two official photographers who never stopped snapping and the results of their hard work can be seen on the web site)

ur final visit on the top floor,

just off the side of the roof garden ,was to the council room where His Highness the Aga Khan presides over the meetings. From here we descended to the large function room where we were

treated to a fine array of refreshments after we had admired the wonderful painting which is the highlight of the room. This provided a wonderful backdrop for a final flurry of photographs and one last opportunity to thank all concerned for a wonder- ful trip.

left the centre and once more ventured onto the London Underground system which delivered us safely back to Upminster. It was a trip to savour and one which perhaps in a few years time may possibly be repeated. This was the second time that members of our club had visited the centre and one which all agreed was very worthwhile and enjoyable on so many levels. Thank you Liaquat and Shamim for arranging it.
