Client Focus: Foyer Federation Day

Lucy Williams, Deputy House Representative at Llety Foyer, describes her trip to attend the Foyer federation, along with fellow Llety Foyer resident Courtney Colarusso.

We caught the train from Llanelli at about 10.45 and began our journey to England’s capital, London. We got to Paddington train station around 3 o'clock and tried to find the hotel. We read sign posts and followed peoples directions for half an hour before we admitted defeat and called a taxi!

After we had settled in at the hotel and made a cup of tea we decided to go sight seeing. We saw Big Ben, The Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, The Tower of London, London Bridge, Buckingham Palace and most importantly the Underground.

In my opinion the Underground was the worst part of the trip because it was very warm and claustrophobic, however, travelling on it meant we got to see different places in London. My favourite part of the trip was the night we went to an Italian restaurant for a meal as it was absolutely amazing and the atmosphere was lovely.

After we had our food we went back to the hotel and met other Foyer Federation clients that were attending the conference in the morning. We discussed where they were from, what type of accommodation they were living in and what we would be talking about at the conference.

The next day we made our way to a 8

community centre where the conference was being held. We arrived there about half an hour later, signed in and collected our badges at the front desk.

We set up our presentation and listened to other people make speeches before returning to our table to talk about our Working Assets Project which is our sustainable garden.

Groups of people made their way around each table and one by one my fellow resident and I had to explain what we are doing for our working assets project, including why and
