I completed a home detox with GAP and I haven’t had a drink since October 2010. This is one of my biggest achievements as I used to drink heavily every day.

With the help of my support worker I have been able to access different services such as Careers Wales and Gold Tops. We even went to a jobs fair in Cardiff together which was really helpful. I am currently doing a PGCE in Caerleon University and I would ultimately like to teach people how to brick lay. My relationships are improving and I am now able to spend more quality time with my family. I even have a new partner and we are enjoying doing things together and being in each others company. At the moment we are looking into getting an allotment together in Newport.

I recently completed an OCN in Abnormal Psychology and have just signed up to a 6 week course in Confidence Building which I can't wait to start.

I have a very good working relationship with my support worker, Emma and I feel she goes beyond her job for me. I really appreciate her work and the time spent with me. I would like to say a big thank you to the Ffynnon project and a special thank you to Emma for all her help and support. I have now left my ‘old’ life behind and I can honestly say my life is improving.

Adopt a Beach

The Ffynnon Project in Newport is happy to announce that we will be adopting Merthyr Mawr beach in association with the Marine Conservation Society.

Nestled on the south Wales coast is the picturesque Merthyr Mawr beach, located just outside of Bridgend. It’s a delightful place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of Wales, especially in summer.

As part of our adoption of the beach we are required to undertake four litter clean- ups per year. This is not only to fulfil our responsibility to the Marine Conservation Society, but to the environment too! By working together we can keep one of Wales’ prettiest beaches clean, but we also have the opportunity to get to know each other and make friends.

We’re planning the first Merthyr Mawr Beach visit in July where we’ll be organising our clean up, having a BBQ and playing games. Environmentalism doesn’t have to be boring!
