Project Focus: In2Change
As a project we want to provide our clients with the best possible service that we can Part of providing this service is understanding the needs of the clients that use our project.
One of these needs is for our clients to be active, we want to promote healthy living and as a project we understand the importance of being active.
Being active can have a really positive effect on the way our clients live and how they interact with other people in our community. During our weekly house meeting clients and staff came up with the idea of setting up a gym at the project. A lot of our clients wanted to get active but they felt they were not yet at the stage where they could go and use local gyms due to lack of self belief and confidence.
This gave us a great opportunity to set up a gym where clients and staff could engage together, build rapport and constructive relationships. Through exercise we want our clients to realise their own potential, grow
in confidence and feel as if they can achieve their own goals. The gym can be used as a tool to develop them into individuals who are able to achieve goals, be healthy, build their self esteem and confidence and make a positive contribution to our community.
In2change would like to say a special thank you to the Monmouthshire Building Society and Sports Wales for their contribution in funding the equipment for the gym and for all their help and support.
Steven Phillis,
In2Change Client Focus: Bocce Competition Success
I have recently competed in the National Bocce Competition 2011 for my region. I came 1st in the singles and 4th in the doubles. I received a gold medal and ribbon for my achievements along with a certificate which I am very proud of.
The event was held in Barry on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th February, I travelled there and back with my team mates. I am now training again, and hopefully will be good enough to be selected for the next competition.
