Eight residents cooked a three course meal and presented the skills they had learnt on the ten week ‘Jamie Oliver Cookery Skills’ course. As part of the module, Women’s Aid have also started a 6 week ‘Healthy Relationships’ course which explores all aspects of sexual, abusive and emotional behaviour.

The Foyer has captured the 3 month module on film with Foyer resident Andrew and Support Worker Andrea doing the production and editing.

The cook-off was done in the format of Gordon Ramsey’s F-Word, with the invited panel of guests voting on the best main course. The eight young chefs were split into two teams of four, the red team and the grey team and all wore T-shirts with a Clarewood Neath Foyer logo.

Since all the guests opted for the Chicken Fajitas menu option, both teams shared the responsibility of cooking it with one team making the soup and bread whilst the other made the chocolate brownies. The chocolate brownies were chosen as the favourite.

"I thought the event went absolutely fabulously! Well done to Clarewood Neath Foyer and the team"

Louise Matthias, Life Long Learning Accreditation Officer

"I had a really lovely time on Thursday in Neath, thanks for making me feel so welcome and showing me around the Foyer and then feeding me! The food was great”

The young people and staff worked hard all day and at the end, the young people got to sit down and enjoy the food with the guests. Our own Head of Young Peoples Services, Alan Trask commented not only on how well the evening had gone and the quality of food but said how pleased he was at the maturity and engagement of the young people involved.

Rachel Gegeshidze from Women’s Aid also praised the young people: "It has been an absolute pleasure working with all at Clarewood Neath Foyer and I am very pleased that they are going to continue working with us. The evening was extremely successful and the food was fantastic."
