Project Focus: Merthyr Families Day at the Seaside

Staff at the Merthyr Families Project invited families on August 24th to the Pen-Y-Dre Bungalow to enjoy a day at the seaside.

The children also brought their teddies to take part in the activities. Staff members read books, played seaside bingo and enjoyed healthy snacks and drinks.

The children were also given bags which contained colours, number cards, and colouring pictures. The adults were given information about local services and agencies that may be of interest. Staff at the project also made a cartoon sea with sea creatures and different underwater plants.

Project Focus: Old Furnace House

The Royal Wedding My name is Marlene James and I live at Old Furnace House with four other ladies Josie, Janice, Lynette & Lynne. Myself and the other ladies decided that we wanted to celebrate The Royal Wedding event here at Melyn Close and invite the nearby schemes.

We decorated the lounge downstairs with flags also laid on a buffet. We had Union Jack cup cakes, sandwiches and so much more with help from the other schemes.

I was in charge of calling the bingo. There were plenty of prizes to be won. Josie won a Royal Wedding tea towel, she was very happy.

Overall everybody enjoyed our Royal Wedding event, from watching the wedding itself on the television to having a buffet and other entertainment.
