pedigree is steeped in show cows with her grand dam being MD-Delight Durham Atlee, reserve intermediate champion at Madison 2005 and MS Kingstead Chief Adeen two generations back.


In the classes, judging kicked off with eight quality maiden heifers and standing top of the line was Nadine Pilkington on the halter of Aintree Revamp Nugget from Aintree Holsteins. This tall, long, black stylish March 2013-born heifer is by Whittier Farms Revamp and out of the Ex91 classified Aintree Sam Nugget A, a Mr Sam daughter who has bred numerous stock bulls in pedigree herds. Standing second was Tregibby A Team Avis from Ifan Wilson, this Townhouse A Team daughter is out of the Ex95 scored Lillyhall Derry Avis who is one of five straight excellent dams.


Wiltor Holsteins won the in-calf heifer class with the promising and stylish heifer Showgirl SC Sara. Bred by Emma and Lucy Jones, this Stanleycup sired heifer is due to calve in August to McCutcheon. She is out of the VG89 classified Sahara Goldwyn Sara 2 that stood second in the second calver class at the show and was part of the interbreed team of five, while her grand dam Sahara Damion Sara was also shown in the senior cow class. Second in this class was Castellhyfryd Atwood Rosina, an Atwood daughter from Simon and Sian Davies out of their interbreed champion Castellhyfryd Spirte Rosina.


Standing second in the junior heifer in milk class behind the heifer champion Sahara Windy Tessie was Kevin Rickard and Martin Webber’s VG87 classified Ortongrange Snowman Alysia. This very correct heifer will be one to watch in the future. She was purchased for 4000gns at the Black and White Sale 2012 from breeder Richard Martin and is out of the 94 point Comestar Alysia Goldwyn.


The senior heifer in milk class was lead by the reserve overall heifer Riverdane Sid Atlee with second going to Jimmy and Hefyn Wilson’s Tregibby Atwood Cocoa. Classified

VG88 she is the tenth generation of very good or excellent cows with her dam the Ex90 scored Tregibby Shottle Cocoa. Wiltor Holsteins stood top of the junior dry cow class with the VG87 classified Loford Damion Rhonda. She is due with her second in September to Enforcer. Meanwhile, in the senior dry cow class it was Jimmy and Hefyn Wilson taking the red rosette with Pisgah Meg 30. Classified Ex93 she is by Atlas and due her fourth in September to Million and is now owned by Dulais Holsteins. There were five quality second calvers forward with the honourable mention Riverdane Gold Angel taking top spot in front of Wyndford Earl Winsome 87 from Wilfred Maddocks. Winsome is by the Goldwyn son, Wyndford Earl who is a full brother to the reserve champion Wyndford Goldwyn Erle and out of Field of Dreams Formation Erle. Her dam is Wyndford Atlas Winsome 82 who was first senior heifer at the National All Breeds Show and then sold to Ponderosa Holsteins, now classified excellent in Spain she stood second last year at the European championships.


Sahara took second behind the overall reserve champion in the third calver class with a Goldwyn daughter, the VG89 classified Sahara Goldwyn Sara 2, who was also part of the interbreed team of five. She is out of the Ex94 classified Sahara Damion Sara and goes back to Copywood Integrity Sara Red.


The senior cow class was particularly strong with production and longevity forward in abundance, combined with style and conformation. Ringsiders were particularly impressed with this class and many were of the opinion it was a standalone class of the show. Top of the line was the overall champion Ex95 scored fourth calver Spirte Rosina who has produced 65 tonnes to date, second went to the Ex94 classified Wyndford Mr Sam Margi who is also in her fourth lactation and has given 58 tonnes. Further down the line, but equally worthy of a mention were Hefyn Wilson’s Ridgefield Gibson Cherril who is classified Ex96 in her sixth lactation and has given 86 tonnes in her lifetime, Aintree Holsteins’ fourth calved Streat Alliance Gaylass, classified Ex92 in her third lactation she has given 38 tonnes to date, while Woodmarsh Blitz Melody also from Hefyn Wilson is classified Ex96 in her fifth lactation and has produced 70 tonnes. Wilfred Maddocks won the group of three class with Wyndford Goldwyn Erle, Wyndford Mr Sam Margi and Wyndford Earl Winsome 87 who went on to be reserve interbreed exhibitor bred group on day two. Second to them was Sahara Holsteins’ team of Sahara Damion Sara, Sahara Goldwyn Sara and Sahara Goldwyn Promis.
