At the same money was Winfarthing Jeeves Joan 83 from the


Taylors. Sired by Jeeves she is out of the VG89 scored Shottle daughter Winfarthing Joan 80, fresh at the end of July she to an undisclosed West Wales purchaser.


Selling at £2450 was the leading member from the consignment from E V and B Boughey and Son, Tarporley, with a homebred heifer by Clayden Rudolph and a Terling bred heifer by Bosside Altaross also selling at this fi gure. Lowerdenby Lightening Jill from Lower Denby Farms, Huddersfi eld, traded at £2400. By Sir Linerway Lightening she is out of Lowerdenby Alliance Jill which gave 10,519kg at 3.39%bf and 2.91%p. At the same money was George Sanderson from Preson with Sandley Jazz 56, this Altaross daughter is out of the Ex90 classifi ed dam Sandley Crocus 24 which gave 10,208kg at 4.17%bf and 3.19%p.


Leading trade for cows was a second lactation Alexander daughter from G H Harrison and Sons at £2150. Classifi ed GP83 as a heifer she gave 8964kg at 4.18%bf and 3.18%p in her fi rst lactation and carries eight generations of dams classifi ed in the top two grades, he dam being the VG85 scored Bassingthorpe Jasper Cherry 7.


Ray Brown from Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, sold three second calvers at £2000 each, while in-calf heifers sold well to a peak of £1980 for Neatishall Brawler Bunty from J H and P E Nicholson Ltd, Norfolk. This May 2012-born heifer is out of a Damion sired


dam and is due at the end of October to Gerrard. Other heifers by Regancrest Baltimore and Regancrest Ilar from the same home and due in October to AI sires traded at £1920 and £1980. A large consignment of commercial in-calf heifers from J W Padfi eld Farms, Essex, sold to £1750. Averages: 51 cows £1524.70 (including seven Focus Milk cows at £1878.57); 138 milking heifers £1820.94 (including 20 Focus Milk at £1859.50); 59 in-calf and served heifers £1313.73; 53 maiden heifers £862.45; 13 heifer calves £333. 85 (Wright Marshall).


Fearnley Dispersal The dispersal of Anne Fearnall’s Fearnley herd from Huntington at Beeston Castle on 15 August saw a top price of 2050gns and levelled at £1168.93. The sale leader was Fearnley Tertia 27, a Altatrigger daughter that calved in early July and is out of a VG86 scored dam by Jacob. She sold to Platt Brothers, Knutsford. Second top at 2020gns was Fearnley Fudge 17, a Huddlestone Spooky daughter out of a VG86 classifi ed dam by Moet Melody. Fresh mid July with her third calf she sold giving 30kg a day to M and G E Lloyd, Montgomery. Platt Brothers paid 2000gns for Fearnley Louise


11. This Schillview Garrett heifer calved at the end of May and is giving 25kg a day. Her dam is a VG85 classifi ed Outside daughter.


At 1950gns was another Garrett sired heifer, Fearnley Gay 15 is out of a Picston Shaker daughter and sold 10 days fresh in her fi rst lactation to James Brook, Chirbury, Powys. Fearnley Barbara 44 was knocked down at 1880gns to A and C J Sherwin, Middlewich, Cheshire. Sired by Cogent Azure she is out of a VG85 scored Askew Reece daughter. This milking heifer calved in February and sold giving 24kg, she is due to calf again in February. Three lots then made 1850gns, the fi rst was the second calved Hornland Hayz daughter Fearnley Audrey 58. Calved last November she sold giving 15kg and due again in November to Fontana Lancelot Duko. She sold to H Sinker and Sons, Grappenhall, Cheshire. Next was Fearnley Fanny 22, a Garrett daughter due early September to Fontana Lancelot Duko with her second calf. She gave 6438kg at 3.79%bf and 2.97%p as a heifer and was purchased by J W Gleave, Middlewich, Cheshire.


The third at 1850gns was the GP83 scored heifer Fearnley Rose 33. By Cogent Azure she is out of a VG88 classifi ed Outside sired dam. Having calved in January she sold giving 23kg and is due again in January to sexed Bomaz Shtl Kampman 691.


Steadier trade at Carlisle Dairy Day The August Pedigree Dairy Day at Carlisle saw trade steadier with fewer animals making over £2000 with many correct pedigree heifers producing over 30kgs being purchased for under £1700. Trade was up to 2250gns on two occasions,
