Bryce and Robert Sloan purchased this heifer for their Darnlaw herd, Ayrshire. It was another purchased animal that sold at 5800gns, Sahara Sanchez Ambrosia 3 was purchased by Messrs Hollins, Bate Farm, Staffordshire. This VG88 classified heifer gave 11,867kg at 4.31%bf and 3.12%p in 305 days and is due in August to Heavenly Golden Dreams. She is maternal sister to Sahara Goldwyn Ambrosia 4 that was overall champion at Balmoral and was the 2013 Baileys All Ireland Cow of the Year in 2013. Her dam is the VG89 scored Smiddiehill Toystory Ambrosia that sold for 27,000gns at the Smiddiehill dispersal sale.


Just behind that at 5600gns was the October 2013-born embryo calf Newabbey Atwood Lila Z 2. She is out of the Ex90 classified Tegan Bolton Lila Z that was purchased for 17,500gns at the Black and White Sale 2008 and has bred sons all over the world. Buying her was Mr Buchanan, Newry, County Down.


A total of four then sold at the next best


call of 5000gns, with the first of these being a maternal sister to the previous calf, Newabbey Goldwyn Lila Z 2. Classified VG86 she calved at the end of May with her second and sold giving 33kg a day having given 9323kg at 5.16%bf and 3.29%p in her first lactation. She was knocked down to Mr Tucker, Horton, Swansea. Newabbey Damion Rose was next to make this money, she is a VG85 scored heifer out of the VG89 classified Inspired Chapters Rose and then backed by a further six generations of Very Good or Excellent dams. Having calved in April she sold back in-calf to Silverridge Avalanche and giving 41kg. Buying her were Messrs Robson, Catterall, Preston.


The McLeans then paid 5000gns each for in-calf heifers Newabbey Lauthority Beauty and Newabbey Windhammer Jo Flo. Beauty is out of the Ex91 scored Riverdane Sho Beauty that sold for 6000gns at the Willsbro sale 2010 and is a full sister to Riverdane Stormatic Beauty that was All Britain Senior two year old 2006 and champion heifer at the Royal Show that year. This heifer is due in December to sexed Alexander.


Flo is out of the VG87 scored Gillette Jordan daughter Berryholme


Jo Flo, she was purchased at the Black and White Sale 2010 for 12,000gns. Averages: 72 cows and heifers in-milk or in-calf £2357.97, 25 in- calf heifers £2556.35, 18 maiden heifers £2267.25, 19 heifer calves £1745.33 (Harrison and Hetherington).
