menu Q&A Samantha Sweet 76 Tipped to defy time
Professional nails expert CND has announced the launch of its Vinylux Polish System. Hailed as ‘the polish that can defy time’, Vinylux is billed as an innovative, high-shine, durable polish system that doesn’t require a lamp. Samantha Sweet of Sweet Squared, the exclusive UK and Ireland distributing partner of CND, tells European Spa how the science behind this polish is poised to revolutionise the market for long-lasting nail colour
What makes Vinylux different from other professional ranges? First and foremost, Vinylux is not a gel polish. Our new Vinylux Polish System offers 62 fashion colours straight from the runway, which last up to four times longer than traditional nail polish, when used with Vinylux Top Coat. This creates an outer shield that protects Vinylux Weekly Polish for up to a week of wear. Delivering the new Pro-light technology, developed by CND, Vinylux toughens over
time with exposure to natural light – so it literally gets stronger as your customers wear it. Added to this, Vinylux’s self-adhering colour coat eliminates the need for a base coat and its top coat becomes more durable when exposed to natural light, ensuring no chipping or scratching for at least one week.
How does Vinylux work? It’s quick, simple and efficient. With the elimination of the need for a base coat, the standard three-step nail polish process is replaced with a faster and more effective two-part system, used together for ultimate performance.
Our Pro-Light technology creates a powerful network of cross- linked bonds that build resistance to chips and enhance durability with exposure to natural light over time. Designed for spas, salons, mobile therapists and even spa customers who want to take away their favourite Shellac shade in the form of Vinylux, it’s the perfect finishing touch and a great way to increase retail spend.
How can Vinylux enhance a spa’s treatment menu? Vinylux dries completely in just eight-and-a-half minutes compared to standard nail polish that dries in 15-20 minutes, on average. This is hugely important for the spa as your client turnaround time is swifter, more efficient and the results are truly amazing. For spas already offering a gel and polish system, this new innovation provides even more choice to the customer. It can be offered as a spa treatment or purchased as a retail product for guests to use at home.
How is it different from other long-lasting nail treatments? Vinylux is designed for the client who wants to change their colour every week or on demand. In developing Vinylux, CND discovered a new class of ‘adhesion promoters’. This unique (and patent pending) chemistry not only gives better adhesion to the nail plate, but also has the added benefit of acting as a barrier to resist nail plate staining, dispensing completely with the base coat. Of the 62 fashion-forward polish colours designed to suit every preference, 39 are CND Shellac match shades, allowing for holiday emergencies and at-home touch-ups for the customer.
