We are working now to increase occupancy and treatment yield, which is particularly important in the market we are operating in – we are going for quality rather than quantity.”


George insists that every stage of the spa journey at the Carrick is managed to perfection. “We are all about delivering quality and expertise,” he says. “As well as our great location, we are so fortunate to have our spa dining experience and our wonderful thermal suite and rooftop pool. There is really so much to do here, you can come and enjoy the whole day with us.” Experience bears this out; at too many spas you turn


up, are pointed to the changing rooms and have to fi nd your own way around. At the Carrick it is entirely different. “You are given a full tour, so you know where you are going, where you are having lunch and how to use your lockers and our staff are always on hand to answer any questions,” explains George. “Every stage of the journey has been thought through.”

opening of our innovative outdoor Thermospace at Mottram Hall in Cheshire – a key attraction in our £6 million renovation programme,” says Leadbeater. “Mottram Hall has seen a total transformation of all its accommodation, the restaurant, bar, leisure and events facilities and its 18-hole golf course.” Most recently, The Grand on Brighton’s seafront has also just completed an extensive £5 million refurbishment, which includes the new Grand Spa. Designed to offer a perfect retreat from Brighton’s bustling seafront, the Victorian hotel’s spa, home to the Spa Café, features nine treatment rooms, an aromatherapy sauna, a crystal steam room, a relaxation zone, a nail bar and a gym.

De Vere’s investment. “Next, we are looking forward to refreshing our spas at Slayley Hall in Northumberland, The Belfry in Warwickshire and Oulton Hall in West Yorkshire,” she reveals. “We have also started our programme to realise fi ve new-build Village Hotels, beginning with Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow in 2014, all of which will feature spas.”
