Nina Tsymbal Spa consultant
“I was involved in the Crystal Spa & Lounge project for almost two years, overseeing the concept development, architecture, construction, branding and pre-opening. One of the elements I’m most proud of is the optimisation of space within the spa – it evokes the sense of being a much larger facility but, in fact, the spa covers just 450sqm, which includes a 50sqm staff zone. It’s a very multi-functional, transformational and versatile space, which can be adjusted in the future to allow for the evolution of the spa market.”
A technological twist
The 450sqm spa offers 10 treatment rooms as well as a 50sqm thermal zone featuring a steamroom, a KLAFS hammam/rasul, an ice fountain, a room incorporating a Haslauer Soft Pack System and a heated marble table supplied by Italian specialists Star Pool. There is also a sensory shower from Haslauer
with a range of water pressure functions including thunderstorm and waterfall, as well as the hydromassage equipment from Unbescheiden. Another notable space within the spa is a sensory room that was created to aid deep relaxation and emotional balance, featuring a range of audio-visual equipment and large couches. Technogym-equipped gym offers a wide range of fitness activities, from Pilates and yoga to Callanetics, ballet and contemporary dance classes. A three-step water processing system in place throughout the spa means that all the water used is filtered, magnetised and enhanced with special minerals using the Aqua-Lyros process from suppliers BMP Lyros in Germany and the UK’s GemWater Plus. The comprehensive consideration given to the
spa’s overall wellness offering also extends to the air conditioning system, which uses state-of-the-art technology to deliver clean, ionized air throughout the spa areas and offers the possibility of creating individual microclimates in these areas, as required.
A truly personal service Upon arrival, each guest is allocated a spa co-ordinator who works closely with them to create a personalised treatment programme to suit their individual requirements such as weight loss, stress management or deep relaxation.
