Clarins expands spa portfolio in South of France 18
France: As part of Clarins’ ongoing expansion of the Spa My Blend and Spa By Clarins concepts, three new spas have opened in the South of France. First to launch, in April, was Spa My Blend by Clarins at the Hotel Majestic Barrière in Cannes. Converted from its previous incarnation, the 450sqm spa is located on the fi rst fl oor of the hotel and has fi ve treatment rooms, including one dedicated to performing the My Blend facial. Other facilities include
a relaxation room, a sauna and a hammam. Two new Spa By Clarins have since debuted; the fi rst a 1,000sqm spa at the Intercontinental Hotel Dieu in Marseille, with facilities including an indoor swimming pool, two saunas and six treatment rooms. The second is at the recently opened Hotel de Paris in St Tropez. Another Spa My Blend is scheduled to open later
this year in the Maldives.

Forbes Travel Guide expands to Europe
Europe: Forbes Travel Guide has chosen London as the fi rst European destination to be considered in its hotel and spa star rating programme. A total of 31 hotels and spas in London
have been rated by Forbes, and two spas – The Spa at Four Seasons and The Spa at Mandarin Oriental – achieved its most prestigious fi ve-star rating.

UK: A new fi tness and wellbeing centre is to be added at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London. Opening in mid-2013 and designed by leading hospitality designer Adam D. Tihany, it will include a 17m indoor stainless steel swimming pool with a deck and bespoke loungers.
The pool will be enclosed by stainless steel and glass and the area will feature a discreet fi replace as well as an intricate mosaic wall and a waterfall feature. Tihany’s design was inspired by Mandarin Oriental’s Asian roots and incorporates the fi ve elements of water,
fi re, earth, metal and air in a balanced composition. The fi tness centre is to be fi tted with Corian screens
for privacy and will be equipped by Technogym. Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park has also teamed up with health and fi tness consultancy Sculpt to offer members and guests a comprehensive menu of wellness services with a holistic focus. The Sculpt team includes a range of personal
trainers, nutritionists and a physiotherapist under the guidance of former international swimmer David Jones.
