SEMICON West: Critical Updates from Industry Leaders

San Jose, CA — SEMICON West 2013, a showcase for new technolo- gies, new device architecture, new materials and new markets, is North America’s premier microelectronics event. From 450mm to 3D-IC, atten- dees look for the latest technologies and solutions that will move their ideas from the lab to the fab. The expo is a magnet for more

than 30,000 professional attendees representing the leading global tech- nology companies. This year’s Semicon West, once again at San Francisco’s Moscone Center at 747 Howard Street, will run from July 9 to 11. Show hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm Tuesday and Wednesday; 10:00am to 4:00pm on Thursday. A highlight will be the Silicon

Innovation Forum organized by the industry’s leading strategic invest- ment groups. This first-time forum provides a platform to connect new

and emerging companies with strate- gic investors, venture capitalists and industry leaders. In Consortia Views, for the first

time anywhere, leaders from the industry’s top consortia — SEMATE- CH, imec and CEA-Leti — will share their views on collaborative R&D and the future of semiconductor technolo- gy. The critical processes and tech- nologies necessary to continue Moore’s Law are currently more uncertain than ever before in the his- tory of advanced semiconductor man- ufacturing. To assess these uncertainties

and provide the latest information on EUV lithography, 3D transistors, 450mm wafer processing, and other challenges to preserving the pace of Moore’s Law, the leading authorities on these crucial issues will provide their insights, perspectives and pre- dictions.

The mobile market is driving

the move to novel transistor architec- tures that offer greater performance and power benefits than traditional planar architectures. Memory and logic manufacturers are pursuing dif- ferent strategies including leverag- ing innovations in design rules, new channel materials and processes (e.g., MOCVD) and inspection and metrology challenges. While materials, architecture

and processing technologies are undergoing revolutionary change, wafer processing platforms are also being radically transformed with a

planned transition to 450mm wafers. For chip manufacturers and suppli- ers, this will involve increased levels of collaboration, further advance- ments in tool prototypes, and increased visibility into related sup- ply chain implications. SEMICON West will present

over 50 hours of free technical, appli- cations and business programs with the critical, need-to-know informa-

tion presented by industry leaders. Contact: SEMI, 3081 Zanker
