Touchstone Intros Four New Timer ICs
Milpitas, CA — Touchstone Semi - conductor has added four new, high- accuracy, micropower timer ICs to its rapidly expanding family of “Nano - Watt Analog™” timer integrated cir- cuits. In addition to all other Touchstone Semiconductor ICs, these new analog timers are all in stock and ready to ship from Digi-Key, the com- pany’s authorized distributor.
current and provides an output fre- quency that is single-resistor-tun- able from 9kHz to 300kHz. It is avail- able in a 10-pin TDFN-EP package. The TS3004 includes an internal
Timing IC. These new, higher-single-supply
voltage, second-generation timer ICs, like the company’s very popular TS3001 and TS3002, operate over a wider supply voltage range (1.55 to 5.25V) and consume very little supply current (<2µA). To set the output fre- quency (or period) in these new timers, only a single resistor is needed. For the TS3003 and TS3006, the output frequency can be set from 9kHz to 300kHz. For the TS3004 and TS3005, an internal 3-bit counter was added that can program the output period from 3.3µs to 233s (TS3004) or from 1.7ms to 33hrs (TS3005). Three of the timers include a DC-
voltage-controlled pulse-width modu- lation (PWM) output (the TS3003, the TS3004, and the TS3005). All four timers are available in space-saving, low-profile, exposed-backside-paddle TDFN packaging. The TS3003 is a higher supply
voltage version of the very successful TS3001, consuming 1.9µA supply
3-bit counter, also operates on 1.9µA supply current. With a single external resistor, the user can set the output frequency to one of eight settings from 0.0043Hz to 300kHz. The device is available in a 10-pin TDFN-EP pack- age. The TS3005 provides functionally similar to the TS3004 while consum- ing less than 1.35µA. It is an extended range timer where the user can set the output frequency from 0.0084mHz (the reciprocal of 33hrs) to 588Hz (the reciprocal of 1.7ms). This is three times longer than the next closest solution. The IC is available in a 10- pin TDFN package. The TS3006 is functionally simi-
lar to the TS3003, but is designed for cost-sensitive applications where a fixed frequency output is all that is needed. The IC is available in an 8- pin TDFN package. These new micro power timer ICs
are described as being easy-to-use and versatile. They are optimized for ultra-long life, low-frequency battery- powered/ portable applications, including micropower PWM control, pulse-position modulation control, clock generation and sequential tim- ing. They can also be used as a low parts count micropower oscillators and compact replacements for crystal
and ceramic oscillators. Contact: Touchstone Semiconductor, 630 Alder Drive, Milpitas, CA 95035 % 408-215-1220 E-mail:

South El Monte, CA — Electro- Mech’s new SW44884 potentiometer switch assembly offers both rotary and push-on functionality for maxi- mum operation control, and incorpo- rates a clear light pipe shaft for front panel illumination. The compact all-

LED circuit to one of the switch cir- cuits for LED switching. The SW44884 also has side facing PC pins for easier interfacing to the PC Board in the next higher assembly. Lightweight, the compact unit weighs less than one ounce and meas-

in-one unit saves valuable panel space in applications where there are tight design limitations. The SPST-DPDT switch enables
the user to specify a value so that at the push of a button, the circuit or channel automatically opens at the preset level. The SW44884 assembly has a backlit shaft with knurled but- ton, an alternate-action pushbutton switch, a clear light pipe switch shaft, and a 10kW resistance potentiometer module. Typical applications include industrial/avionics displays and audio controls, instrument panel control, aircraft simulator controls, and other high-density panels. Previous models were only available using edgelit knobs and did not include LED back- lighting. The user may also jumper the
ures less than 3/4-in. square. The SW44884 requires approximately 2-in. of space behind the display panel and mounts directly to the PCB with side and rear facing PC pins. The SW44884 is rated at 0.10A
resistive at 30 VDC. Potentiometer resistance is 10kW ±10 percent but can be customer specified. Other fea- tures include alternate action switch- ing, an operating pressure of 42 oz. (+7 oz.), plunger travel of approxi- mately 0.15-in., and a rated switch
life of 100,000 minimum actuations. Contact: Electro-Mech
