Global Specialties Intros Autonomous Mobile Robot

Yorba Linda, CA — Global Special ties has introduced the RP6v2, C-Pro - grammable Robotic Vehicle. The unit is an economical autonomous mobile robot system which provides an intro- duction to the fascinating world of robotics. It is designed for beginners as well as experienced electronics and software developers.

User-programmable autonomous mobile robot. Programmable in C, the RP6v2

has many possibilities for expansion as the user’s programming skills grow. The robot package includes: ATMEGA32 8-bit RISC microcon-

troller with 8 MIPS and 8MHz clock; delivery fully assembled (no soldering needed); CD with software, 138-page manual, and many extras; AVR-GCC and RobotLoader open source software for use with Windows and Linux; pro- grammable in C; available accessories; receives IR codes in RC5 format; USB interface for easy programming and communication; module I2C bus expansion system; ex - pan sion boards may be stacked as needed; sample C programs and huge C func- tion library; powerful tank drive train can drive up steep ramps and over obstacles; large payload capacity; inte- grated light, collision, speed and IR-obstacle sensors; two 7.2VDC motors; 625 CPR encoder resolution for precise speed regulation; six PCB expansion areas.

High Energy Resistors Ohmite Introduces

Arlington Heights, IL — Ohmite Manufacturing has introduced the TP Series of thick film, high energy resistors. These resistors offer users the benefits of non-inductive per- formance and high power density. As an added feature, they provide the impulse energy capability normally associated with wirewound or compo- sition resistors. The resistors’ energy withstanding capabilities have been maximized double-sided screen printing of pulse tolerant thick film ink, coupled with a sophisticated laser trimming process. Occupying very little PCB real

estate, the easy-to-install TP810 (10 watt) is the first of a family of high

energy thick film resistors that the company will be introducing. TP810 resistors are offered in 8 off-the-shelf resistance values ranging from 10 to 10kW at 5 percent tolerance. The TP810 resistors are suit-

able for surge protection in high power electrical devices and have been successfully tested at 100 Joules (watt/seconds) over a 100 mil-

lisecond pulse. Contact: Ohmite Mfg. Co., 85 West Algonquin Road, Suite 230,

AVX: MLCCs with Near-Pure Silver Electrodes

Greenville, SC — AVX Corporation has introduced a new series of microwave MLCCs with near-pure silver (Ag) electrodes, which both

on the new UQ Series capacitors, it was able to provide higher conductiv- ity than competitive non-precious metal technologies while remaining highly competitive in terms of cost. Lead-free and RoHS-compliant,

the high-performance UQ Series MLC RF capacitors are available in seven voltages, ranging from 50 to 500V, and in eight capacitance toler- ances, ranging from ±0.1pf to ±20 percent.

enhance performance and mitigate cost. Exhibiting higher conductivity than competing non-precious metal RF capacitors, the new UQ Series MLCCs have ultra-low ESR, high Q, high self-resonance, and a capaci- tance range spanning 0.1pF to 1000pF. Applications for the UQ Series include RF power amplifiers, low noise amplifiers, filter networks, and MRI systems. According to the company, by utilizing near-pure silver electrodes

non-precious metal RF capacitors, the series is also available in six case sizes: 0605, 1210, 0709, 0402, 0603, and 0805, and with three termina- tion styles: nickel barrier Sn/Pb (60/40), 100 percent tin, and non- magnetic barrier/tin. The UQ Series is rated for use

in temperatures ranging from –55 to +125°C. The series also either meets or exceeds the requirements of EIA- 198, MIL-PRF-55681, and MIL-PRF- 123.
