Carlsbad, CA — Nordson YESTECH, a subsidiary of Nordson Corporation (Nasdaq: NDSN) has been selected by Mer-Mar, Inc., a full-service con- tract electronics manufacturer, as its AOI supplier. Nordson YESTECH’s BX benchtop AOI will be used for au- tomated inspection of printed circuit boards at Mer-Mar’s 22,000-ft.2 facil- ity, located in Hesperia, California. Nordson YESTECH was select-

ed after an extensive evaluation of various AOI systems. Mer-Mar, Inc. has been a premier contract manufacturer for over 35 years, specializing in high reliability ap- plications, including medical elec- tronics, first responder, industrial and aerospace assemblies. Over the years, they have

evaluated many AOI systems but were unimpressed. They had maintained a long-standing repu- tation for extremely low rejection rates, and approached AOI with skepticism. They realized howev- er, as boards became increasingly more complex and dense, that AOI would be necessary to maintain- ing their quality excellence. As a con- tract manufacturer who runs hun- dreds of part numbers, they found programming times on systems they evaluated were nearly as time con- suming as visual inspection. When evaluating the BX bench-

top AOI, Mer-Mar found that it deliv- ered not only the accuracy and relia- bility they demanded, but was also easy to use and program, which was a paramount consideration. Nordson YESTECH also provided the compa- ny with meticulous training and cus- tomer service. According to the company, the

BX benchtop’s advanced 5 megapixel color camera imaging technology pro- vides fast and accurate PCB inspec- tion with exceptional defect coverage. The system inspects solder joints and verifies correct part assembly en-

abling users to improve quality and increase throughput. The optional four side viewing cameras add even more inspection capabilities found only on in-line systems. The BX benchtop AOI delivers a complete in- spection solution, providing ad- vanced automated inspection of: sol- der defects, lead defects, component presence and position, correct part/polarity, through-hole parts, and paste.

Benchtop AOI system. Programming the BX is fast and

intuitive. Operators typically take less than 1 hour to create a complete inspection program including solder inspection. The BX utilizes a stan- dard package library to simplify training and ensure program porta- bility across manufacturing lines. Programs created with the BX are also compatible with the company’s complete line of AOI systems. The BX is equally effective for paste, pre- and post-reflow and even final as- sembly inspection. Remote program- ming maximizes machine utilization and real-time SPC monitoring pro- vides a valuable yield enhancement

solution for any application. Contact: Nordson YESTECH,
