L-com: Solderless Coaxial Connectors
North Andover, MA — L-com, Inc. has introduced a new line of coaxial connectors that do not require solder to terminate, making them suitable for terminating cable in the field. They incorporate a captive center pin designed to clamp around the center conductor of the cable, eliminating the need to attach it separately since it is already assembled into the con- nector body. Until now, the company only
offered three types of coaxial connec- tors: one-, two-, or three-piece crimp connectors, single-piece clamp con- nectors, and twist-on or tap connec- tors. In order to get the best termina- tion on a coaxial cable, however, they would require the center pin to be separately soldered or crimped on the center conductor before crimping the rest of the connector body to the cable. The new connectors eliminate that step; simply strip the cable per the recommended dimensions, then slide the ferrule over the cable and insert the stripped cable into the con- nector body. After sliding the ferrule back up to the connector body and crimping, the connector has the same superior connectivity and hold as older solder crimp connectors.
The company is now offering:
ANM-1420 solderless type N male connector for 400-Series low-loss cable; ARSP-1726 solderless reverse polarity SMA plug right angle for 195-Series low-loss cable; ARSP- 1728 solderless reverse polarity SMA

plug straight for 195-Series low-loss cable. The company has plans to add more types throughout the year. In addition to the improved ter-
mination process, these connectors also have gold plating on the center pin and a nickel-plated brass body
that is suitable for outdoor use. Contact: L-com Global

Hygienic Flexible Flat Cables from Cicoil
Valencia, CA — Cicoil’s Highly Flexible Flat Cables are designed for food manufacturing machinery appli- cations, where long term reliability is critical and down-time is not an option. The compact, non-toxic sili- cone encased flat cable solutions are engineered to provide space and weight savings, durability, cable flex- ibility, making them well suited to meet the stringent cleanliness requirements of food processing applications. The company’s patented flat
cable technology needs no external “armor” or conduit for protection, is tear-resistant and will not deform or wear during a lifetime of more than 10 million cycles, even under tight bending radius and high speed flex- ing conditions. The highly durable silicone is “self-healing” from small punctures and cable jacket damage can easily be repaired in the field. For applications that require resist- ance to friction and adhesion, the company offers coating options by request. Unlike other types of cable
sheathing, such as PVC, Teflon or Polyurethane, Cicoil utilizes a patented process of encapsulating individual components in a shock- absorbing silicone jacket that ren- ders them impervious to repeated exposure to severe vibration, wash down processes, cold temperatures (–65°C), UV light, autoclave, radia- tion, physical stress, cooking oils, animal fats, cleaning agents, sanitiz- ers, heat (+260°C), steam, water, high pressure sprays, moist environ- ments, salt, microbial growth, bacte- ria and many chemicals. This combination of features
makes the company’s hygienic cables an excellent alternative to wire har- nesses, bulky round cables and par- ticulate-generating cable tracks in
food manufacturing applications. Each halogen-free flat cable can
incorporate a variety of components including power conductors, feedback pairs, shielded control wires, video conductors, FlexRail™ self-support- ing flat cable system and the compa- ny’s patented StripMount™ fasten-

ing strip, all combined in a single condensed cable design, precisely controlling the inner component spacing, jacket thickness and the overall cable shape. Custom and standard cables are
available in continuous lengths, cut to order, or as assemblies, complete whatever connectors are needed, 100 percent tested and inspected for peak electrical performance, quality and reliability. Cicoil’s cables are UL Recog -
nized, Class 1 Clean Room Rated, CE Conforming, RoHS and REACH Compliant and are manufactured in an automated, climate-controlled environment. In addition, these envi- ronment-friendly cables are 100 per- cent contaminant-free and exceed the outgassing requirements of
ASTM E-595. Contact: Cicoil Corporation,
