POOL TRANSFORMATION Portrait struck gold in the refurbished pools category; Portrait’s client wanted to refurbish and modernise an existing swimming pool by extending the pool to create a swimming lane and walk in steps and by replacing all the pool and spa plant including the environmental control system. They asked Portrait Pools to fully re-render and re-tile the whole of the new pool and steps with iridescent mosaics and utilising a liquid pool cover. They also supplied and installed a fully tiled spa pool and completed the projects with a bespoke stretch ceiling covering the whole pool hall.

The London Swimming Pool Company had to settle for second place with three golds, three silvers and one bronze, despite an outstanding all round performance. An outstanding portfolio of projects from The London Swimming Pool Company helped earn the capital team both gold and silver in the category of in-ground domestic spas and health pools.

CARBON FOOTPRINT Scooping the sustainability pools award, Portrait Pools utilised two Heatstar Pheonix air source heat pumps in a project that was not just aesthetically pleasing but outstandingly energy efficient. Finished with an Ocea automatic slatted pool cover, the pool features a Triogen ozone sytem and an Astral chlorine dosing tank. Portrait designed and constructed the luxury constant water depth swimming pool with one set of walk-in steps and a counter current unit finished with pearlescent glass mosaics from the Iris range. A bespoke spa pool was also installed which seats up to 5/6 with a fully tiled finish to match the main pool.

This underground leisure area is part of the latest new build mews house where the pool and spa are located on the third level below ground in the seven storey property where the considerable engineering works included a 25m deep excavation to accommodate the multi-million pound development. A number of companies were involved to complete the unique tardis like dwelling and London Swimming Pool Company were selected as the specialist pool contractor based on their expertise for installing sub ground level pools within listed buildings. The swimming pool measures 12x4 metres and features a KBE 4m moving floor which is elevated through the water to be set at different depths as required. When the floor is fully raised, the area can be used for parties, dancing and other activities requiring a large floor space. A dry bonded black slate wall adds interest and texture along one side of the pool and is replicated on the opposite wall as a back drop to the spa shell manufactured by Armadale UK.
