TYPICAL ANNUAL SERVICING CONTRACT An annual service contract includes:
• Recommission of outdoor swimming pool April/May
• Followed by weekly/fortnightly service visits until end September
• Winterising of outdoor swimming pool • Supply of all chemicals
ABOVE: For many pool and spa companies servicing business can be a great boost during slow building periods.
Each weekly/fortnightly visit to include: • De-leaf swimming pool (if outdoors) • Vacuum pool as applicable • Clean of skimmer baskets • Clean of filter baskets • Backwash of sand filter • Test and adjust of pool water chemistry
• Leave report card of water condition in plant room
• Check plant room/pool equipment for any defects and report
Each winter visit to consist of:
• Check and adjust pool water level • De-leaf pool as applicable • Test and adjust pool water chemistry • Check pool safety covers

“As part of our annual contracts we carry out a filter and boiler service yearly on each pool.”
Building relationships with customers is a major part of the service contracts business, says Keith.
“Scheduling and logistics are a big part of offering a reliable service to our customers and we schedule our contract engineers six months in advance with each engineer being given a regular round,” he says.
“Offering a good back-up service and fast response times is critical in maintaining a good relationship with

customers. We always have a manned helpdesk for our customers and we schedule our engineers to ensure we have a presence in our key geographical areas. “In fact we still maintain many pools we built over 15 years ago. This means we can sometimes respond within an hour or two.
“While scheduled maintenance may have smaller margins compared to new builds or other parts of the business it’s a key part of our business and the good service we offer to our customers ensures we carry out any refurbishments or equipment installs they require.” n
