The presentations of the annual UK Pool & Spa Awards attracted a packed audience for an evening that celebrated the great and the good of the combined pool and spa sectors.
There was standing room only at the Crowne Plaza, Birmingham, as the informal style evening kicked off with a drinks reception, followed by a buffet and enthusiastic networking. For the fi rst time, the awards, now in their fourth year and run
by Pool & Spa Scene magazine, were presented in association with the UK Pool & Spa Expo. Another fi rst for the water leisure sector was on-line votes of more than 500 that helped decide the winners.
JUST A DROP
With the help of generous support from Pool & Spa Scene magazine, UK Pool & Spa Expo, Dreamwater Lounge and the awards presentation attendees, the evening helped raise vital funds towards the provision of clean, safe and accessible drinking water for the Nakasedhere community in the Kamuli District of Eastern Uganda through the Just A Drop foundation – the offi cial charity of the Birmingham UK Pool & Spa Expo. Winners in 13 categories received a wave design glass plaque with runners-up and highly commended receiving certifi cates. All

short-listed nominees were encouraged to use the competition to help promote both their own business and the pool and spa sector in general.
“I think it is fair to say, that by timing our presentation to coincide with the UK Pool & Spa Show, we appear to have a runaway success on our hands,” commented Christina Connor, managing director of Waterland Media, the publisher’s of Pool & Spa Scene magazine. “There was a positive vibe to an event that did not once linger on economic gloom but instead embraced a feel good factor. “We will respond to the demand to not only repeat this year’s winning formula, but to build on it in 2014 – so watch this space.”
