Ozone treatment and UV treatment equipment to be checked. General equipment like swimming pool covers and water cannons will need checks to ensure smooth running. “In the last 10 years a lot more people have asked us for service
contracts,” says Tom, who has been in the swimming pool industry for 34 years. “While new builds were slower last year we are now picking up a lot of work from quotes we gave some time ago which are now being followed up.
PEACE OF MIND
“Service contracts are a vital part of our business and account for around a third of our turnover – the reason servicing requests have gone up is that people want peace of mind that their pools are being maintained in the best possible way.”
Bryan Lennox, managing director of Lennox Leisure, based near Leeds in West Yorkshire, says that servicing of domestic pools is between 30 to 40 per cent of their business.
“While outdoor building has gone quiet over the last few years because of the economy and the weather, there has been an increase in requests for servicing which has become a large part of our business. “A lot of our work is on indoor pools these days which need less maintenance than outdoor ones – and a monthly visit is usually suffi cient. “We fi nd, particularly in the north, that people call us as and >
