Silent Swimming At Norway School


Tonstad School in Norway, originally built in 1965, has undergone extensive refurbishment together with large new extensions and new swimming pool complex.


The challenge of refurbishing and extending to create a coherent and attractive connection between old and new has generated a number of interesting product solutions. For example, architects Filter Arkitekter have used large areas of wood, such as for the main pool where birch veneer and white woodwork complement Troldtekt’s natural wood fi bre acoustic panels. The Troldtekt panels were specifi cally chosen for their aesthetic appeal and performance benefi ts.


Clever use of lighting has created a wonderfully bright and airy space while the acoustic panels give the pool, changing rooms and other areas a tranquil and calming feel.
