Industry launchpad
As we celebrate 40 years of hire shows, our preview ably demonstrates that suppliers are continuing to develop innovative products for hirers’ fleets.
Stihl’s powerful performers
From the preview material EHN has received, it is clear that many power tool manufacturers have chosen the Executive Hire Show to launch their latest products for the UK market, and Stihl is no exception. Having last year unveiled its TS 500i 14in cut-off saw with a two-stroke fuel injected engine, the company is now introducing the TS480i, a 12in model. The system is designed to deliver increased torque and power for greater performance and productivity, with easier starting and faster acceleration. Full details will be able on the first morning of the Show.
Euro Towers steps up
Euro Towers will launch the Stairpod 500 Podium, which is designed to enable safe access to work areas whilst working on a staircase. It can be set up and used by one person and is adaptable for use on flat ground, providing platform levels of 0.25 and 0.5m. Manufactured in the UK, the podium is designed to conform to the requirements of the new PAS250 standard.

Adjustable plates are incorporated to allow the Stairpod to be used on any staircase, and the platform board has a non-slip finish. Gated access facilitates entry and exit to and from the unit, and stabilisers are included. Maximum safe working load is 150kg.
SDMO to generate interest

Also making its debut will be the GS 461, the first ever concrete saw introduced by Stihl. Designed for wet-cutting to a 40cm depth in concrete, masonry or stone, it is targeted for use in applications where a cut-off saw would be impracticable. Incorporating a 40cm guide bar and a diamond abrasive chain, its ability to achieve deeper cuts makes it

suitable for creating openings or corners, and for cutting thick reinforced concrete and sewage and water supply pipes.
SDMO Energy, the UK arm of SDMO Industries, will unveil a new Telys generator controller with simple set-to-set synchronisation capability, and will give demonstrations on its stand to show visitors how straightforward it is to operate. Also on display will be two examples from the popular Rental Compact range of generators, the R110C3 (100kVA) and the R33C3 (30kVA), which are compliant with Stage 3a of The Non-Road Mobile Machinery (Emission of Gaseous and Particulate Pollutants) (Amendment) Regulations 20062006/105/EC. This range now encompasses a power band up to 500kVA.
Other stand highlights will include the Perform 3000LPG, a portable 3.75kVA generator fitted with the latest Kohler engine, which can be fuelled by petrol or LPG gas, as well as the petrol driven iPro 2000 and iPro 3000 inverter generators. Completing the display will be the Diesel 6000E Silence, a 6kVA super-silent, fully bunded site generator incorporating a Modys control panel plus a 115V 16A outlet alongside a 115V 32A socket. A remote start option is available, and the machine can be supplied either skid mounted or made portable with a two-wheel trolley kit.
