UK: An ‘upcycled’ spa called Te Garage will open in November 2012 in Teeside. Located in Greta Bridge at an ancient ‘stopping station’ - previously used as a refuelling point for the UK’s first motorcars travelling between London and Scotland - Te Garage has been designed as a quintessentially English spa “with an abundance of character”. It was conceived by Barbara-Anne Johnson, a Director of the adjoining Morritt Hotel at Greta Bridge, in partnership with Jeremy Smith of Blue Spa & Leisure and Nick Mee from interior designers Mathewsmee. Te 450sqm spa comprises five single treatment rooms, as well as one couple’s suite with an outdoor bath. Other facilities include a mud pitt rasul, a hammam, three red cedar hot tubs and a ‘Car Wash’ shower experience. Tere is also what is said to be a first in the UK - a Shepherd’s Hut log sauna, which is set within a Secret Garden, complete with hanging relaxation pods and a spacious tent. Treatments will follow a ‘Menu Road Map’ with guests able to choose from options including Te Country Lane, Te Scenic Route, Te Coastal Path and Off Road. Each journey will offer a selection of face and body treatments using Te Garage’s own-brand product range, developed in conjunction with Te Natural Spa Factory and using locally-sourced ingredients.

UK: Bigoodi, the inaugural luxury children’s hair and beauty salon, has opened in London. Te ‘concept store’ has been created for children who enjoy pampering and styling from professional and enthusiastic staff and takes its inspiration from the exclusive boutiques of le Marais in Paris.
Te independent store is located in Parsons Green and was the brainchild of Clemence de Crecy. Everything has been designed with children in mind, from chairs that resemble American cars, aeroplanes or princess thrones to flatscreen televisions showing classic cartoons.
Bigoodi offers various types of children’s parties - including Ballerina parties for girls, with manicures, pedicures and hair dressing and Kapla parties for boys, which are centred around the popular French wooden block building game. Following the first site, further Bigoodi salons are planned for France towards the end of 2012 and other UK areas including Bermondsey, south London.
“Bigoodi is the kind of place where children feel secure, welcome and cared for, and hopefully somewhere they look forward to return to,” says de Crecy.
