Page 83 Volpi: Intense LED Light Source for Machine Vision
Auburn, NY — Volpi is introducing the intraLED 3 LED light source, an economical and compact lighting system that has a service life of 50,000 hours and a light intensity of over 500 lumens (measured on a 1- meter light guide with an active diameter of 13.5mm). The product is the next genera-
tion model of the successful IntraLED 2020. When developing the new high- power light source, Volpi engineers focused on the requirements of machine vision. With a light intensity of over 500 lumens (measured on a 1- meter light guide with an active diam- eter of 13.5mm), a performance increase of more than 30 percent was achieved over the previous model. According to the manufacturer, the light homogeneity is ±5 percent and the typical color temperature is 6000K. Intensity adjustment is done either manually through the integrat- ed RS-232 interface (optional USB) or the multiport with digital and analog
AWR: New RF Software Release
El Segundo, CA — AWR® Corpor - ation has released AWR 2011, the latest version of its popular software design suite. The new version adds new features and productivity enhancements to every product in the suite, including Microwave Office™ high-frequency design soft- ware, AXIEM® 3D planar electro- magnetic (EM) analysis software, Visual System Simulator™ (VSS) communication system design and optimization software, and Analog Office® RFIC design software. New features include: Micro -
wave Office and Analog Office design sharing (group design) to simplify data management (schematics, lay- outs, EM analysis, and measure- ments) and resolve conflicts as sub- designs are combined and merge into a module or subsystem. Also new, Simulation State Management (SSM) allows large amounts of simu- lation results from optimization runs, swept simulations, or Monte Carlo analyses to be efficiently man- aged in Microwave Office and Analog Office as well as in AXIEM software at all stages of the design process. Yield analysis allows parame-
terized, graphical geometry manipu- lation directly in the company’s uni- fied data model (UDM) architecture, ensuring that the entire design remains synchronized with respect to parameterized geometry. Other new features include: RF
aware short/open checker; AWR con- nected for CapeSym SYMMIC; float- ing windows; asynchronous EM sim- ulation; user-defined parameterized models; EM yield, sweeps, and opti- mization; visual system simulator/ - envelope simulator; system-level RF subcircuit parameters; RF budget analysis spreadsheet wizard. with light guides from Volpi and Schott-Fostec. Now most applications with 100 or 150watt halogen light sources can now be imple- mented with an intraLED 3. Replacement of conventional halogen light sources offers the user numerous advan- tages: the long service life of 50,000 hours, the mainte- nance-free design and the substantially lower power consumption (24VDC max. 55W) noticeably reduce total operating costs. The compact enclosure allows use on a small surface and the threaded rails (M4) present on 4 sides facilitate smooth
system integration. Because of its low heat emis-
sion, in critical applications the ambient temperature no longer has to be cooled, or cooled as much as previously. This results in additional power savings and a further reduc- tion of the company’s CO2
footprint. Compared to pure LED lighting
components such as long LED line illumination, the hybrid approach with LED light sources and homoge- neous fiber-optic line illuminations offers cost advantages and more flex- ibility in application. Contact: Volpi USA,
