The chip is capable of operating at a range of frequencies - from 900 MHz to 5.8 GHz - and is optimised for use in wireless audio, video and data transfer. It also supports streaming applications and RF connectivity in the 2.400 GHz to 2.485 GHz unlicensed ISM band.

The company which has offices in the US, Europe, Japan and China yesterday unveiled its new Superluminescent Diode (SLD) Light Sources. Composed of InP SLDs manufactured by TQE, a subsidiary of Thorlabs formerly known as Covega, both wavelength versions use Single mode (SM) and polarization- maintaining (PM) fibers.

The LCD interface provides high temperature stability and enables users to view and set the current and temperature for each fiber- coupled laser independently. Typical power output ranges from 2.5 mW to 30 mW and each source includes a rear panel interlock, keylock power switch, and independent enable buttons. Users can easily configure the interlock to trigger when doors open, disabling the lasers and providing a key safety feature when operating in high-traffic facilities. To prevent damage, the units are also equipped with a microcontroller which disables the output if input settings exceed laser limits.

RFMD delivers new single-chip transceiver

2010-04-08

A new transceiver chip has been developed by compound semiconductor and RF device manufacturer RFMD.

Radio frequency (RF) product and compound semiconductor device manufacturer RF Micro Devices (RFMD) has announced the release of a new single-chip industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) band transceiver - the ML2730.

The ML2730 has seen the incorporation of a power amplifier and low-noise amplifier on to the same chip - thereby boosting energy efficiency through improved power output and also providing robust wireless links for users.

RFMD’s products have uses in a range of sectors, including in cellular handsets, wireless infrastructure, wireless local area networks, cable television, broadband and aerospace and defence.

The firm is headquartered in Greensboro, North Carolina and operates design and manufacturing facilities across the globe.

AQT and Intevac Enter into Business Agreement

2010-04-07

Applied Quantum Technology (AQT) today announced that they have completed a business agreement in which Intevac will provide AQT with equipment for its current and future production needs

Applied Quantum Technology (AQT), a leading developer of low-cost CIGS (copper-indium- gallium-diselenide) thin-film solar cells and (IVAC 13.85, -0.14, -0.10%) , a leader in high-productivity manufacturing equipment today announced that they have completed a business agreement in which Intevac will provide AQT with equipment for its current and future production needs. This announcement coincides with AQT’s latest funding news, which was released separately today.

Under the terms of this business agreement, Intevac will provide AQT and its manufacturing partners with manufacturing capacity for the
