On the electrical side, when it was 1Gb/s we used DB9s.
This is exactly the same DB9 that we use for the serial ports but these
have been adjusted so that they cannot be used in serial ports as FC
uses completely different voltages. They were used at 1Gb/s with a
GBIC.
We also used to have a HSSDC (High Speed Serial Data Connector).
These were also used with GBICs.
When SFPs started to be used for higher density platforms with 2Gb/s and
above, the HSSDCs didn’t fit any more.
We started using the HSSDC2 connector.
