In a heterogeneous NAS environment both Windows and Unix servers are
sharing the NAS Appliance
A backup initiated from the Windows Client will only backup the Windows file
structure to tape as it does not recognize the Unix file structure.
A backup initiated from the Unix Client will only backup the Unix file structure
to tape as it does not recognize the Windows file structure.
If we have backed up the NAS Appliance using a Windows Client, the Unix
systems will no longer have access to their file systems following a restore as
Unix files will not have been copied during the backup.
The two primary elements that are missing are the NFS Metadata and the
Access Control Lists.
