x1, x4, x8, x16
PCI Express is a switched architecture supporting multiple x1, x4, x8, x16
2.5Gb/s serial links between internal motherboard components and external
devices. Each link supports full duplex data transfers at 250MB/s in each
direction.
Notice that the AGP Graphics bus has been replaced with one or more PCI
Express links to the graphics card, the internal Hard Disk Drive is connected
via Serial ATA (SATA) or Serial Attached SCSI (SAS), slower devices are now
connected via USB 2.0 and higher bandwidth cards will have one or more
switched PCI Express links.
