SCSI Architectural Model
(SAM)
There are TWO components to SCSI.
(1) Command set – the SCSI “language”
(2) Connectivity – the interface, cable and the way the data is
transported
The same commands are used whatever physical interface is used.
As SCSI-3 decouples the common command set from the connectivity – this
means that other ways of delivering the data, can be used.
Obviously there have to be some definitions of what alternatives to the parallel
bus can be used and these are defined in the SCSI Architectural Model (SAM)
