The course addresses the changes and
challenges facing the modern sports events
manager including the increasing pressure
to meet the demands of governing bodies,
attracting and managing sponsors, dealing with
a volunteer workforce and being aware of health,
safety and risk management legislation and
techniques – within sporting venues that vary
considerably in their complexity and design.
Through studying this course you will develop
the specialist knowledge and skills required
to strategically plan and manage these large,
complex sporting events to the satisfaction of
local and international stakeholders. You will
learn about risk management, crowd safety,
venue management and sponsorship specific
to managing sports events, to enable you to
confidently and effectively operate at a strategic
level.
Course modules include: impacts & risks in
events management, sponsorship in sport,
sports venue operations & management,
strategic management, strategic planning
for international sports events, volunteer
management, research methods and a
dissertation, as well as an option module.
Entry requirements
Applicants should have an honours degree in a
relevant subject, possibly with events industry
experience. Applicants with other relevant
qualifications and appropriate events experience
will be considered and encouraged to apply.
