Returning to Shoreditch, Clerkenwell and Cambridge Heath, they’re all areas with great bars and restaurants, plenty of scope for a friendly lunch pitstop and hanging out after work. “I think it attracts talent especially younger talent” says Kotschy at Residence. “There’s lots going on across the road in Shoreditch. Soho has become quite an expensive playground.”

In the neighbourhood of Residence Pictures, on the Clerkenwell Road, Cara Kotschy says, “it feels leafy.“ And around the corner from her, Corless at Harbor says that it’s, “nice sometimes to have a little bit of breathing space as well, to not be so chaotic.”


As with so much of London, you can take a left turn and the vibe changes. In the


jewellery quarter, just down from ITN’s iconic building on Gray’s Inn Road, there’s a hubbub of street food stalls at lunchtime, while there’s the hidden treat of Exmouth Market in Clerkenwell, or the curious precincts of the Inns of Court around Holborn.


“We all work hard in this industry, so it’s important to have inspiration at your fingertips,” says Graham Bird at Black Kite. “In the East End, Creativity is celebrated, it’s a prominent part of the culture that surrounds you.” The studio recently put on an art event called Black Kite Presents Art Pop, inviting friends and clients. “Being East, makes you feel everything is accessible and possible.”
