B&Q Flip by Pulse Films

wo ads share first place in this year’s poll of commercials producers’ favourite ads of


the year. The gravity defying Flip for B&Q directed by Oscar Hudson of Pulse Films is described by its voters as “a masterclass in in-camera wonder” and as “technically mind- blowing and creatively original.” Others still call the ad a “production masterpiece” and praise the spot for its “incredible execution.” Another of the ad’s admirers say it is a “winning combination of an agency and a director at the top of their games, continuing to transform a rather uninspiring high street brand into something a bit more magical.” Also in first place in our poll of the


best ads of the year is the haunting The Last Photo for CALM, produced through Cain and Abel with Rogue director Max Fisher. It’s described by its production company admirers as “surprising, effective, powerful” and as a “great idea, well done.” Says one of the ad’s voters “gives me shivers watching some of the clips.” Others say, “just the most moving and poignant piece of filmmaking of 2022. Sensitively handled and with a shocking final denouement that remains as powerful as ever, even after multiple views.” Last year’s top ad, Open Spaces


for Burberry by Riff Raff’s Megaforce proves its popularity by still getting a place in this year’s top three.
