Water Park Update

Innovation is a prerequisite

Home to more than 45 exhilarating rides, slides and attractions, and a diversity of seasonal events and shows, Alhasan Kaabous Alzaabi, vice president of operations at Farah Experiences, tells Park World editor Becci Knowles, what makes Yas Waterworld so special.

Waterworld combines fun aquatic adventures with local personality to provide guests with an experience unlike anything else”, says Alhasan Kaabous Alzaabi, vice president of operations at Farah Experiences. All of its attractions are derived from an original story developed exclusively for the waterpark: The story of ‘The Lost Pearl.’ The story follows the adventures of Dana, a young Emirati girl in search of a legendary pearl which had once brought prosperity to her village. Alhasan explains, “with every innovative experience introduced, we make sure it ties to our story and pays tribute to the Emirati culture and heritage of pearl diving.” Yas Waterworld continuously looks to expand its portfolio of rides and attractions to provide

new water experiences that guests have never seen before. “As the world’s leading waterpark, it is paramount for us to deliver a unique offering that guarantees a one-of-a-kind experience, says Alhasan. “After all, in today’s competitive market, innovation is no longer a luxury - it is a prerequisite.”

Yas Waterworld places a keen focus on constantly enhancing the interactive nature of the park and leveraging the latest state-of-the-art technology within the entertainment industry. This enables the park to go beyond the confinements of its physical space and further create immersive and personalised experience. “For example, “ says Alhasan, “the water park’s Cinesplash delivers an immersive cinematic environment that uses special effects to awaken the senses and takes guests on a simulated journey to the UAE’s pearl-diving past.”

COVID-19 impacts

Commenting on Yas Waterworld’s response to the pandemic, Alhasan tells me: “The health and safety of our guests and employees has always been our top priority. Following our reopening, Yas Waterworld was awarded the ‘Go Safe’ certification by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), which showcases our efforts to enforce global standards for safety and cleanliness. We also received the COVID-19 compliance certificate from TÜV SÜD, one of the leading testing and certification bodies in the world.

“We have been working alongside the relevant authorities to implement stringent precautionary measures throughout the waterpark including mandatory online booking to ensure that a limited capacity is adhered to, thermal screening
