What the judges said

MAREK PISARSKI – Owner, PAIT Consulting; Marek Pisarski Imagineering.

The pandemic changed the traditional perception of the reality around us. In the entertainment industry, some sectors such as events and exhibitions were completely frozen and some such as amusement parks, science centre and museums were severely affected by the restrictions. In this situation, maintaining the continuity of the opinion-forming competition that is the Park World Excellence Awards is extremely important. The chosen formula completely reflects the transition of the world of events to the online version. See you in real life, I hope next year. Thanks to the Park World team, all the jury members and the best congratulations to the winners.

Who would have believed, a year ago in Paris:

a) that 2020 would be that awful year for the world of parks

b) that, despite this context, the Park World entry list would be so rich with projects openings to the public. Even if most of the projects started before the pandemic, we must commend the owners and operators who were able to finish construction despite the sanitary conditions and lockdowns, and to open to the visitors as soon as the local regulations made it possible.

It proves once again that our industry is resilient and will overcome this dramatic situation. In the meantime, the 2020 Park World Excellence Awards created a window of fresh air for all of us, highlighting the best innovations that met their audience.

RICHARD PAWLEY - Director of

operations and ride safety, VTP Global Holdings.

What a fantastic awards ceremony. Congratulations to Park World for arranging this in a traumatic year for all of us in the industry.

I have personally been involved for nearly fifty years within the operations and the installations of rides. I feel it a privilege to judge those who enter this competition as I have seen over those years how parks have developed and more importantly how our suppliers have adapted to meet the demands of our visitors within our parks in safety and design.

The efforts of those who participate in the Park World Excellence Awards are amazing and every one is a winner. The standard increases each year! It makes me proud to be part of this industry and I look forward to seeing next year’s entries for many reasons, including how each park and supplier has risen their standard of supplying the illusion, fantasy and magic that creates the fun for all the guests that visit parks around the world.

Our industry has faced one of the worst crisis’ ever. But even in those dark conditions, operators, suppliers and manufacturers achieved with success many projects all around the EMEA region. I’d like to congratulate all winners and finalists for their accomplishments. They really made the excellence of our industry. Let’s hope that 2021 will be less challenging for everybody.
