TEA announces 27th annual TEA Thea Awards recipients


The Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) has announced the new slate of TEA Thea Awards recipients, honouring people, projects and technologies that represent excellence in the visitor attractions industry. TEA International board president Chuck Fawcett made the announcement during the annual TEA Member Meeting, held online in November.

Commenting on the amusement park which turns 125 next year, the Awards Committee said: “As one of the world’s first and most iconic amusement parks, it has survived two world wars and the harsh environment of its seaside location while continually providing family fun and thrills for generations while remarkably also being a family-owned and operated business since its inception, currently under the care of the fourth generation of Blackpool lineage.”

Although unable in 2020 and 2021 to hold its traditional black-tie Thea Awards Gala and TEA Summit conference which draws some 1,000 professionals to the LA area each year for networking, celebration and professional development, theTEA opted to continue its annual Thea Awards cycle and honour the recipients and the project teams with a series of online case studies and its published programme.


“The Sally Dark Rides team is truly humbled to be recognised by the Themed Entertainment Association for its work on the Sesame Street: Street Mission dark ride for Port Aventura theme park,” said Rich Hill, creative director Sally Dark Rides.
