In the second of this two-part series, our experts return to talk past, present and upcoming projects, and to predict the “next big thing” in water parks and resorts. PW editor, Becci Knowles reports.

ood investments for the next few years need to deliver rapid ROI and consider the socially distanced context we need to operate within,” says WhiteWater president and ceo Paul Chutter. “This is perhaps why we are seeing an uptick of interest in rides designed for an individual or pairs where guests don’t have to mix with others outside their group. “The current trend in the water park experience is a desire for racing products. Competition slides have always been popular as they help to add a little friendly rivalry and gamify the slides to generate repeat ridership. WhiteWater’s innovation of the Duelling Master Blaster, recently installed at OCT Nanjing, helps cater to this trend by placing riders side by side as they race along drops and up slopes. Our team see this trend carrying into 2021 and we are excited to have Parallel Pursuit slides open next year to take the trend to the next level. “That said, delivering a rapid ROI doesn’t necessarily mean focusing on less expensive attractions, pulling people back into parks may require that ‘Billboard ride’

that helps your marketing more than ever. It never hurts a marketing campaign to be able to tempt guests with ‘world’s first’ experiences.
