Single file “What makes the Wonder Woman roller coaster different from typical coasters is that it incorporates an innovative single rail, where most coasters have two,” offers Fred Grubb, RMC president. “The seating arrangement is also innovative in that each passenger is seated in their own car in single file. The single rail track is just over a foot wide, and passengers literally straddle it as they ride. Because of the small track and train design this single rail coaster is capable of much tighter and faster maneuvers.” Wonder Woman: Golden Lasso Coaster features three
single seat trains in themed colors of red, gold and blue that race along a slender golden track held high by massive red supports. As guests enter the ride queue, they are greeted by a spectacular likeness of Wonder Woman and immersed in the story of her life and how she obtained her super powers, surrounded by tropical landscaping and architecture styled as if ancient from Themyscira, Wonder Woman’s original island home. After boarding their streamlined ride vehicle, which has a moving loading station to expedite entering and exiting the ride, the journey begins as riders are called upon to emulate Wonder Woman’s determination to make the world a better place and fight the forces of evil. Just as Wonder Woman displays superhero strength, agility and combat skills, riders will experience the same heroic qualities as they race through this record-breaking new attraction.
Ribbon in the Sky “Guests are raving about Wonder Woman: Golden Lasso Coaster,” Siebert reports, “and the ride boasts some incredible features.” The ride is a one-of-a-kind single-rail
coaster on a visually impressive I-beam no wider than 15.5 inches. There is a breathtaking straight-down 90º drop, a first for a Fiesta Texas coaster. Riders maneuver through two airtime hills, one 180º stall, a zero-g roll, and over-banked turns while seated in three vehicles with eight single-file passenger seats. “As you approach the moving load station you can easily see the difference, as guests sit single-file in an eight-passenger train for a totally open, unobstructed view. Guest response thus far has been overwhelmingly positive.” “I think what attracted Six Flags to our single rail Raptor
track system,” recalls Grubb, “was the unique design of the track and the small footprint required. It is definitely a different ride experience, riding in a single file fashion. It kind of feels like you are riding a ribbon in the sky.” Siebert has ridden the coaster in all eight seats, and found
that each provides a slightly different experience. “The 90º drop will leave you breathless,” he says. “As we move into our summer season we believe this coaster will be a must visit not only for our members and season pass holders, but our visiting tourists as well.” Wonder Woman: Golden Lasso Coaster was several
years in development as Six Flags Fiesta Texas worked with RMC, but it is not the first time the park has worked with them. “RMC is known for creating the latest in coaster technology,” notes Siebert, “and we worked with them in 2013 as we transformed the original wooden Rattler into World’s Tallest and Fastest Hybrid Coaster, the Iron Rattler. For other operators considering adding a coaster like
Wonder Woman, Siebert issues an open invitation. “Come ride!”
