Shoot The Chute is a modernised version of the classic flume ride, offering a thrilling drop followed by a spectacular iconic splash.

Making a splash at ZooTampa Z

ooTampa at Lowry Park in Tampa, Florida, has kicked off the summer with a splash as it introduced Roaring Springs, a shoot-the-chutes from WhiteWater West. Guests will board a boat and gently drift along a spring surrounded by

native landscape and wildlife. The journey takes a sudden turn when the elevation drops. Guests will feel a rush of adrenaline as they experience a three-story splashdown.

"Part of our mission is to create exceptional, personalized experiences that connect

people with wildlife and each other in fun, immersive ways," said the Zoo's CEO, Joe Couceiro. The journey continues as guests get back to nature and see a hidden part of Florida

that remains untouched. Explorers will catch a glimpse of black bears, alligators, panthers, Key deer and other native species as they trek along the winding Florida Trail.

The craft of the Carousel

The German American Heritage Center, Davenport, Iowa, is set to open a new exhibit, “Steam Circus: The Colorful World of Carousels” on October 21. The merry-go-round, or carousel, may be one of the first memories relating to these places

of merriment, and the exhibit features beautiful pieces of art and history as crafted by the world renowned Dentzel Company and Charles Looff Company. Guests learn about the mixture of old world craftsmanship and new world technology and engineering. From military origins, to the creation and popularization of theme parks, they can discover how German immigrants brought their talents and crafted masterpieces for the sake of entertainment. The exhibit features a curated collection of carousel history on loan from the Merry-Go-

Round museum in Sandusky, Ohio. Included are the tools, art, and three full size carousel horses from the turn of the 20th century. The exhibit also displays a carousel themed kaleidoscope by local artist Tom Chouteau, proving that there is plenty to explore, learn, and even colour in this exhibit.

the Pirates of Batavia boat ride was totally destroyed, prompting widespread consolations and well-wishes online and over the following days. The fire, which began in the early hours of May 26, took 250 firefighters to extinguish, seven of which were “lightly injured” according to Offenburg police. So far, police and firefighters have been unable to decipher the cause of the fire, though it is believed to have started in a warehouse. Fortunately, none of the 25,000 visitors to the park were injured,

but all were evacuated. The Fjord Rafting and Koffie Kojpes rides were initially out of

action, but Europa-Park has announced that Koffie Kojpes is once again up and running, with the Fjord Rafting expected to reopen in the following weeks. The park resiliently reopened on Sunday 27 May with guests able

to attend a scheduled music event, but managing director Michael Mack stated that the Norway-themed area had been “completely lost”, and thanked the emergency services for their swift response.
