FRANCHISE
Life REWARDING CARE
Graham Precious bought his Caremark East Riding business in May 2010 and hasn’t looked back
Why the care sector and why a franchise? Care was attractive because I was keen to explore a sector where I could use my business acumen and experience and contribute to society in a different way, and even 12 years ago it was a growing market – I could see it would be a great investment. Plus, I wanted to do something purposeful and provide a service to vulnerable people in my community. Starting your own business always brings
challenges, but with franchising you have access to a skilled support team to help and guide you from the outset. Plus, if you partner with a reputable franchisor and brand, the proven business model will have been tried and tested, so you won’t have any of the headaches that a start alone business usually has to overcome.
“A great way of running a business because of the systems and support that come with franchising”
Were you always in it for the long haul? Yes, absolutely. I started out with a two-year vision, then plans for fi ve years and beyond which I have met and exceeded. I wanted a long-term investment and a business that I could build on each year and that would deliver both fi nancial and personal rewards. As we reached each target period, plans
had to be reviewed and sometimes adapted to meet the changing needs of the business as well as other challenges, for example, the pandemic. Yet despite the various economic diffi culties through the last few years, I can say that overall it has been very successful.

authority and private customers and we’re planning to increase our private portfolio
How has your life changed since you launched your Caremark business? Would you recommend franchising to others? I have gained a lot more skills, in particular learning how to manage tiers of command and volumes of employees, and I’ve done this by surrounding myself with a good team of dedicated people. And yes – I’d recommend it! Franchising
is a very good way of getting into running a business because of the systems of support that come with owning a franchise. Also, the network of fellow franchisees is a useful way to grow, learn and get advice.
