WOMEN IN FRANCHISING

Supported to success

Rachel Doyle is the Home Instead franchisee from West Fife and Kinross

O

riginally from Stoke-on-Trent, Rachel, 51, graduated from Leeds University and enjoyed a

varied career working within the public sector and in commercial, energy and engineering businesses. Having moved to Scotland over 25 years ago Rachel’s passion for collaboration saw her explore opportunities for running her own business during the pandemic. Recognising the needs for more care services within her local community, Rachel found Home Instead and in March 2021, opened her franchise office.

Why Home Instead? The caring values, the shared ethos, and the vision to change the face of ageing in the UK through the delivery of great quality home care.

What was the initial training and support like? There was lots of support and training provided by National Office which helped me enormously and which has never stopped, they are always there for you. I also benefitted

from the support of the other new franchisees who started out at the same time. As well as the other 240+ owners in the network who have been there and done it!

How was trading at the start, and how's business today? We got off to a great start and we haven’t stopped since. This has been due to older people requiring care and support to remain living independently at home and of course the reputation of Home Instead speaks for itself.

Any standout moments so far? Seeing our clients thrive because of the amazing support given to them by our team of fabulous Care Professionals. It is the best

sector I have ever worked in as every day is full of laughter and a real passion for what we do.

How have you found being a woman in business? It has been something that I have always wanted to do, and I have benefitted hugely from the support of great colleagues.

Any advice for others ? Find a great franchisor like Home Instead and just have a go. Check that you will receive the support you need and that it is something you really want to do. You have nothing to lose, and you can have a great future to gain! 
