A sustainable partnership for organic vanilla in Uganda buffers the continuing extreme raw material price speculation and quality fluctuations on the world markets. As a result, Flavex was able to reduce the extract prices for organic vanilla gradually last year.

Rosemary is favoured in the food sector because of its spicy aroma profile and its active ingredients, the stabilising and antioxidant diterpene phenols (DTP) carnosolic acid and its derivatives. Vanilla extract, camphor type –
Flavex obtains most of its high-quality organic vanilla beans from its sustainable cultivation project in Uganda. The organic hydroalcoholic vanilla planifolia CO2 extract with 2% vanillin contains approximately 60% ethanol and is comparable to a classic alcoholic extract. However, the production process allows a constant extract quality despite changing raw materials. Vanillin content, colour, flavour and consistency are specified within narrow limits. Pure vanilla CO2 extracts without any traces of alcohol and with higher vanillin content, for example, are also available.
Curcuma longa Curcuma is often used for food colouring, but a special feature is that the CO2
Curcuma xanthorrhiza The antimicrobial effect of Javanese turmeric and its essential oil is popular in natural oral care products, but this effect is also beneficial for food products. The decent taste of curcuma xanthorrhiza enhances spicy or nutty notes – the extract has no colouring effect.
Declaration and certification Most of the genuine CO2
extracts can be
declared as natural flavouring substances according to the aroma regulation (EC) no. 1334/2008. Flavouring preparations are exempt from the Novel Food Regulation (EU) 2015/2283 and don’t require approval if the raw materials have food status. Flavex also produces an extensive range of CO2
