Tucked beside the still waters of Lake Jasna, on the edge of Slovenia’s Triglav National Park, Milka isn’t simply a hotel — it’s an immersion into the flavour and natural beauty of the Julian Alps. Small in scale yet ambitious in vision, it offers a more considered take on Alpine travel. With views over an emerald lake framed by
limestone peaks, the setting feels both intimate and expansive. In winter, the surrounding region becomes a natural base for skiers, with the slopes of Kranjska Gora close by and further options across the borders in Italy and Austria within easy reach. Beyond the pistes, the landscape lends itself to slower exploration, from snowshoeing through forest trails to cross-country skiing, or simply pausing to take in the stillness of the mountains. As the seasons shift, so too does the pace.
Warmer months open up a network of cycling routes, hiking trails and Alpine climbs, drawing visitors deeper into the Julian Alps. Closer to the hotel, Lake Jasna offers a relaxed rhythm, whether for swimming, paddleboarding or lingering by the water as light moves across the peaks.

A dedicated team bring a sense of warmth that feels both personal and intuitive: attentive without formality and thoughtful without intrusion. Each stay is shaped by a genuine pride in place. Dining unfolds as a natural extension of the
experience. The two-Michelin-star restaurant is led by self-taught chef David Žefran, whose background in sociology informs a more reflective approach to cooking. Ingredients are sourced largely from within a 90-mile area, from foraged herbs and garden produce to responsibly sourced meats and freshwater fish from trusted farmers, breeders and hunters. Drawing on Alpine traditions and Slovenian heritage, the menu moves with the seasons while remaining rooted in its surroundings. A dining experience that lingers.
