Mountain Top Resort VERMONT, UNITED STATES
Set high in Vermont’s Green Mountains, Mountain Top Resort is one of the state’s most distinctive four-season destinations. Spanning 700 acres of meadows, woodland and lakefront, it offers wide-reaching views across the surrounding peaks and the nearby Chittenden Reservoir. The sense of seclusion is immediate, yet local ski areas and small-town favourites remain within easy reach. Originally established in the 19th century as
a turnip farm, the property has evolved steadily while retaining its historical character. By the mid- 20th century, it had become a retreat for travellers. Following a fire in 1977, the resort was rebuilt and expanded, introducing updated facilities such as guest homes, luxury cabins and an events barn. Today, Mountain Top Resort balances
rustic charm with a more polished offering. Accommodation ranges from lodge rooms to standalone cabins and larger guesthouses, each positioned to make the most of the mountain or lake views. The property caters to a broad mix of guests, from couples seeking a quieter stay to families, wedding groups and corporate retreats.
On-site facilities include a fitness centre, pool, spa services and dining, alongside a private beach area on the reservoir during the warmer months. A defining feature is the year-round focus on
outdoor activity. In summer, guests can kayak or canoe on the reservoir, hike through the surrounding landscape or take part in tennis, volleyball, horse-riding and clay pigeon shooting. As temperatures drop, the setting shifts into a winter playground, with cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, ice skating and horse- drawn sleigh rides all on offer. The resort is also home to the oldest Nordic Ski Center in the US, with more than 37 miles of maintained trails weaving through the forest. Beyond recreation, the resort has built a
reputation as a setting for weddings and events. The mix of privacy, scale and curated experiences makes it the perfect destination for a celebration. Whether visiting for outdoor adventure,
relaxation or a special occasion, Mountain Top Resort offers a clear sense of place shaped by its mountain setting.
