Lifestyle Hotel eder SALZBURG, AUSTRIA

Set at the heart of Maria Alm, where village life still gathers around a central square, Lifestyle Hotel eder offers a contemporary interpretation of Alpine hospitality rooted in local tradition. Surrounded by the dramatic scenery of the Hochkönig massif, the Pinzgau grass mountains and the Steinernes Meer, Lifestyle Hotel eder places guests within one of Salzburg’s most varied mountain landscapes. There’s year-round access to hiking, biking and skiing, which shapes the rhythm of each stay. Across the wider Hochkönig region, around 211 miles of hiking trails, extensive bike routes and more than 50 summits invite exploration in every season. The hotel’s story begins in 1961, when the

original Gasthof eder was created from a former stable on the village square. Today, the third generation of the founding family continues to run the property as part of the Eder Collection, preserving its authenticity while introducing a refined, design-led aesthetic. The atmosphere remains convivial rather than formal, with interiors that balance Alpine warmth and contemporary style.

Dining is a central pillar of the experience. The

main restaurant draws on Pinzgau specialities while incorporating broader influences, resulting in menus that feel both rooted and forward- looking. At eder&sons, the hotel’s second restaurant, a sharing-led concept brings together internationally inspired dishes with a modern, sociable energy. Beyond the hotel, mountain huts and village restaurants continue the culinary narrative, where regional produce and Alpine traditions remain integral to everyday life. Wellness at eder is designed with active travellers

in mind, offering space to unwind after long days in the mountains. The spa features an indoor-outdoor pool, alongside a series of relaxation zones. Five heat experiences — including a Finnish sauna, steam bath and infrared sauna — provide varied approaches to recovery. Treatments range from full-body massages to targeted sports therapies. Maria Alm offers a strong sense of place — the

village’s gothic church is a defining landmark, and Prinzenberg Natrun introduces a playful dimension with slides weaving through the trees.

DON’T MISS Start with a sunrise hike, followed by a swim and spa session, before dinner at eder&sons
