My ‘Farncombe life’ began at Dormy House as a summer waiter while I studied law. After graduating, I returned to work at Foxhill Manor full time. It was an intense, unique environment for a 21-year-old who had only worked in one hotel, but it gave me exposure to all aspects of how a hotel works. Within a few months I was promoted to

house manager – it was then that I started to seriously consider this as a career. I’ve since been promoted to operations manager. Every manager I have met along the way has had such different styles and skills, but they all taught me a huge variety of things, in different ways. Maybe those differences have led me to have my wide skill set, despite working in just one hotel. I’m so grateful for the opportunities I have

been given. I have my own little family-style environment with a small team in an eight- bedroom hotel, but beyond that there is a huge estate and a ‘Farncombe family’ that make all the pieces of the jigsaw fit together.
