Jade Purewal Group catering manager, BaxterStorey

“I started my career studying to be a chef and 12 years later I’m an account manager responsible for two buildings, two contracts and managing a team of 17. It sounds like a cliché but the world really is your oyster when it comes to joining the catering industry. “Not only do you work with incredibly

creative people who are insanely passionate about food and beverage, but the skills that you learn are endless and transferable. “I’m managing one of the most well-

known publishing houses in London, and most of my week is spent creating bespoke events and running book launches in our restaurant. It’s hugely rewarding, especially when you get a tag or a like from the author on Instagram, I’ve met several celebrities including comedian Munya Chawawa, musician Tom Fletcher and food writer Nigella Lawson. “There are so many opportunities

for training and development. I’m studying for my operational management course and will receive an industry- recognised qualification and a diploma when completed.”

“The world really is your oyster”
