Part of this strategy includes the development of our people, but importantly we also focus on the communities we operate in. We’re investing in our talent and their skills for the future through schemes like apprenticeships and our internal Career Pathways. These Pathways provide a clear plan of training and development for all operational colleagues including cleaners, catering staff and many central functions. They support colleagues in moving up to more senior roles, to a different part of the business or specialising their skills. We are proud to provide around 60 different
apprenticeships that cover everything from culinary, facilities, business management, events, HR, finance, IT/digital, sales and procurement.

Our apprenticeships have been developed to take candidates from Level 2 up to Level 6 and 7 degrees. Our Forward with Marcus
Wareing programme, which began in the summer of 2021, is a bespoke development course that runs alongside a Level 4 Senior
Culinary Chef or Level 5 Operations Departmental Manager apprenticeship standard. It focuses on taking our senior culinary talent to the next level of their training, with an emphasis on modules including commercial, culture, sustainability and the craft. We also care about the environment. Our Climate Promise is a commitment to reach Climate Net Zero by 2030. To achieve this we have a clear roadmap of timings and actions, including a 40% switch towards plant-based proteins, with an interim target of at least 25% by 2025 and reducing food waste by 50% by 2030.
